2015 Young Artists Festival

    Saturday, August 15, 2015 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Young Arts Festival is an end of summer festival that celebrates young artists, ages 6 to 17, in our community. Summer Art Workshops – Two More Classes

701 CCA Summer Art Workshops – Summer 2015 This Summer, 701 Center for Contemporary Art presents its fifth Youth Summer Art Workshops. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the arts, creating artwork under the guidance of local artists and art instructors. Students are able to work in ceramics, painting and drawing, try their hand at print making and much more! Classes are held at 701 CCA’s Artist-in-Residence studio loft, located on the second floor of the historic 701 Whaley building in Columbia. Tyrone Geter: BLACK!

701 Center for Contemporary Art presents a solo exhibition by Tyrone Geter opening with an artist reception, Thursday, July 9, 7-9 pm. Reception admission is free for members and a $5 donation is suggested for non-members. Tyrone Geter: BLACK! is curated by Barry Gaither, director and curator of the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists (NCAAA) in Boston. Aside from his duties at the Museum of the NCAAA, Gaither is a special consultant at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts MFA, where he has served as curator for eight exhibitions.
