Silent Gem

I believe that capturing & sharing creative energy on canvas is a worthwhile calling that can bring pleasure & healthy intellectual energy into our lives. While my work ranges in subject matter, I tend to focus on my interpretation of the female soul & the integrity of my medium. My work has a voice & my viewers have an invitation to put themselves into my pieces. Studio 112 112 East Main St. Lexington, SC 29072 (803) 413-0230 http://www.whitneylejeune.com Directions: From the State Capitol in Columbia, take U.S. 1 Gervais Street (U.S. 1) west across bridge and beyond West Columbia. Gold Eye

I usually begin with acrylic paints as a ground for oil painting. The first colors, shapes, & textures set the tone & inspire the next step in color or gesture, like a conversation. Color, energy, & emotion are the result. My work is purely intuitive & each painting has a different starting point, reflecting a state of emotion. The watching eye (of God? of angel? of Inner Wisdom?) is a frequent, always unintentional symbol. As for many artists, the process of creation for me is spiritual. 2314 Stark St. Columbia, SC 29205 (803) 260-0961 http://www.vickicorley.com Directions: From the State Capitol in Columbia, take Gervais St. (U.S. 1) east past Harden, and turn right … [Read more...]

God's Play Ground

My mother once told me "Sometimes she felt like she didn't have no life." That statement made with so much honesty, conviction, & passion--yet free of even a hint of self-pity--has, throughout my career, been one of my guiding principles. She survived & passed her legacy of love, compassion, hope & a sense of "doing the right thing" on to her children. My work finds its foundation in that legacy. It refers to the trials of youth & the struggle of the aged. It seeks to speak to & for those with no voice. My work is compassion, hope, justice, & perseverance: things I learned from my mother. 312 Deer Run Rd. Elgin, SC 29045 (803) … [Read more...]

Day-detail

My life is composed of tiny fragments of color, texture & form. My paintings are an extension of my faith & my connections. I'm obsessed with creating. My goal is to bring this about through visual sophistication that is sensitive to the heart. Art is an outward expression of my feelings & thoughts. Sometimes its links are strong enough with someone else that they feel the connection. Not everyone can or should make that connection but when they do, it is deeply satisfying to me & to the viewer. 700 Columbia Ave. Irmo, SC 29063 (803) 622-3444 http://timfloydart.com Directions: From the State Capitol in Columbia, take Gervais Street (U.S. 1) west and turn right on … [Read more...]

Never Again

My art is my therapy. Working in clay makes me feel like a kid. Photography was my first love; it comes naturally for me. It’s all about framing, composition, and light. I taught Art in the Lowcountry Public Schools and private lessons at Island Girl Studio. After a diagnosis of MS, I retired, then relocated to Columbia. I have participated in regional festivals, shows and exhibits, including Spoleto. Everyone wants to be pretty

I work in porcelain and stoneware clays, making sculptures that just simply make you want to smile--dogs of all sorts in a tangled ball or a monkey dressed for a night on the town. I also do work with the human figure--faces, hands and torsos which are a neo-tribal synthesis of ancient motifs. My work has been featured in shows in Rock Hill, Anderson, Columbia, Charleston & Beaufort, SC as well as New York City. I am represented exclusively by CityArt in Columbia and am quite excited to now also have work showing in the Chicago area. Studios in the Arcade 1332 Main St., #25 Columbia, SC 29201 (803) 315-5126 Directions: From the State Capitol in Columbia, take Main St. north … [Read more...]
