Kristy Bishop: Bound

January 15 – February 28, 2016 Noted South Carolina textile artist Kristy Bishop will be making her second appearance at 701 Center for Contemporary Art. A native of Charleston, Bishop was 701 CCA’s Artist in Residence this past fall. She was also selected for inclusion in the 701 CCA South Carolina Biennial 2015. Bishop’s work undertaken during her residency will be featured in a solo exhibition at the Center that opens on Friday, January 15th, 2016. Tyrone Geter: BLACK!

701 Center for Contemporary Art presents a solo exhibition by Tyrone Geter opening with an artist reception, Thursday, July 9, 7-9 pm. Reception admission is free for members and a $5 donation is suggested for non-members. Tyrone Geter: BLACK! is curated by Barry Gaither, director and curator of the Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists (NCAAA) in Boston. Aside from his duties at the Museum of the NCAAA, Gaither is a special consultant at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts MFA, where he has served as curator for eight exhibitions. 701 CCA Calls Artists for the 701 CCA South Carolina Biennial 2015

      701 Center for Contemporary Art now seeks submissions for the 701 CCA South Carolina Biennial 2015, the center's third survey exhibition of work by contemporary South Carolina artists. The exhibition will be held at 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia. The 701 CCA S.C. Biennial 2015 will be presented in two parts with openings in September and November. SHANNON RAE LINDSEY    701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, S.C., presented the 701 CCA Prize Celebration and Winner Announcement Wednesday, December 3, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. The finalists for the 701 CCA Prize 2014 are Andrew Blanchard of Spartanburg, Shannon Rae Lindsey of Columbia and Karen Ann Myers of Charleston. 701 CCA Prize 2014

  701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, S.C., announces the second installment of the 701 CCA Prize, an art competition and exhibition for professional South Carolina artists 40 years and younger occurring every other year. The project will take place this year with a juried process resulting in a October – December exhibition for the competition’s three finalists and an award celebration announcing the winner. Madame Magar's Workshop Exhibition Period: March 18 – May 4, 2014 Artist Reception: Tuesday, March 18, 7-9pm Explore the contemporary world of millinery and fashion design through an innovative, imaginative installation by Charleston artist Leigh Magar.
