Artist-in-Residence Lori Larusso
Painter Lori Larusso is 701 Center for Contemporary Art’s next Artist-in-Residence, beginning October 17 and ending January 15. Larusso’s residency precedes a solo exhibition beginning January 14. During her residency, Larusso will continue her work, in which she develops concepts of domesticity, food culture and man’s communication of caring. Larusso also plans to engage with the local community by taking over CCA social media accounts, hosting virtual artist talks and organizing her Community Sketchbook project. The Community Sketchbook project will allow local participants to spend one week each adding their own artwork to a two-page spread in a community sketchbook. Once their work is completed, participants will send the book back to Larusso to pass on to the next person. The goal of the project is “to connect people of all ages in the community” according to Larusso. The project will begin during Larusso’s residency and continue throughout her time at CCA. Members of the public will be able to schedule a time to pick up a sketchbook during the gallery hours, Wednesday-Friday 1-5 p.m.
