Artist-in-Residence Zachary Diaz
Artist Zachary Diaz awarded 701 Center for Contemporary Art’s next Covid-19 residency. During his six-week residency, Diaz will shelter in place and create art at the CCA loft. Diaz’s residency will begin on Aug. 15 and will end on Sept. 26, 2020. He will host a takeover of CCA social media accounts from August 20 – September 26.. Diaz will invite CCA followers into his workspace virtually, share completed work, work in progress and describe his artistic process. Diaz, a U of SC graduate, received his BFA in Studio Arts in 2018 and continues to live and work in Columbia. He is the recipient of the University of South Carolina’s Edmond Yaghjian Artistic Excellence Award. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions across S.C. and group exhibitions around the country. He has completed residencies with New York Academy of Art in Soho, NY, and the International Centre of the Arts in Umbria, Italy.
701 CCA’s mission is to promote understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of contemporary art. With a gallery and live-work space for an Artist-in-Residence program, the Center provides artists with resources to develop, create and exhibit visual arts in conjunction with performing, literary and media arts. 701 CCA also offers year-round cultural programming, including contemporary art exhibitions and events that are free and open to the public.**Statement from director about COVID relief residencies**
