A SOUTH CAROLINA PORTRAIT

In the footsteps of Evans, Eggleston and Christenberry

“Place is so much a part of me. It’s a love affair––a lifetime of involvement with place” W. Christenberry

I enjoy traveling the back roads of South Carolina and exploring her small towns. Being a photographic artist, I always carry my camera. From the exposures made during my travels, I create fine art black and white photographs. These photos create a vivid portrait of the scenes founded confer a kind of immortality because there is a danger these scenes will soon be lost or transformed.I enjoy sharing these art photos of the beautiful, unusual, and every day scenes of South Carolina with others.

Artist Bio

I was born in St. Johann im Pongau, Austria, in 1953. My father was American and my mother German. I spent most of my childhood in Europe, coming to South Carolina in the sixties. I earned a BA in Psychology and a MA in Media Arts at the University of South Carolina. After working as a multi image producer and commercial photographer for a couple years, I realized my passion in photography was as a fine art. This led me to Rochester NY, where I earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
