What is a Sound Bath?

Not so much a performance but a meditative sound journey. A deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience to nurture your mind, body and spirit. The sounds you will experience during the session are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli. Immersing yourself into a Sound Bath allows your brain waves to slow, shifting to a more relaxed state.

Using a variety of instruments such as Tibetan and Crystal Singing bowls, chimes, drums, gongs, various percussion instruments, flutes, etc., the facilitator will create a soundscape comprised of different sounds and frequencies. Every session is unique and unrehearsed with the facilitator using the mood and “vibe” of the room to guide him.

This special session at 701CCA is presented in collaboration with Audio Engineer Zack White.

Feel free to bring a yoga mat, pillows or equivalent with you to this event. If you do not have one, chairs will be provided

Dick Moons Biography
Dick Moons is a certified Sound practitioner and professional Drum Circle Facilitator. Based in Columbia, South Carolina, Dick has Over 20 years experience playing a wide variety of drums and other percussion instruments. For 15+ years he has worked with a wide variety of clients and populations including, Special Needs and At-Risk youth, seniors in Retirement Communities, after school programs, incarcerated youth, Wellness Retreats, libraries, yoga studios, churches and various festivals. His interest in using sound as a therapeutic tool started long ago but it wasn’t unti1 2021 that he embarked on his journey towards becoming a sound Practitioner. He began acquiring the many different instruments used in the practice and attending on-line and in-person training. These days Dick is facilitating sound sessions in a myriad of settings with a variety of clients.
