The ArtFields Documentary presented by 701 Center for Contemporary Art in partnership with ArtFields.

Situated in  a small rural town in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, Lake City has emerged as a mecca for contemporary art by Southern artists. Invited, an one-hour documentary,  chronicles  the origins and evolution of the ArtFields Competition & Festival.  The documentary takes us on a 10 year journey and illustrates a community’s hopes, fears, doubts and ultimate triumph in using the arts to revitalize the Town of Lake City.

A 30-minute talkback featuring some of the stars of the documentary will take place immediately after the screening. Founding  ArtFields staff Carla Angus, Sharon Askins, Karen Fowler and muralist and Lake City resident artist Herman Keith will answer questions and provide additional information about ArtFields.

Taking Root: The ArtFields Collection exhibition can be viewed on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm prior to the screening of Invited.  The 701 CCA gallery is located at 701 Whaley Street, 2nd Floor, Columbia, SC.
